Correspondence and other documents, primarily letters written by Monsignor James P. Finucan of the La Crosse, Wis. Diocese, mostly from his undergraduate years at Loras College, 1942-1944, and from his travels and stay in Rome during the Second Vatican Council (1962-1965), as secretary to the Most Reverend John Patrick Treacy, (Bishop of the La Crosse Diocese 1948-1964). Also includes correspondence with his brother, Reverend J. Thomas Finucan, a teacher at Catholic High Schools in Wisconsin Rapids and Wausau, Wis., mostly dating from 1959-1963. Includes fragmented correspondence between other Finucan family members, the bulk dating 1959-1963, that reflects an excitement and general vigor that surrounded the events of the Council.
