Thomas G. Thornton was a U. S. Marshall, Distict of Maine; collection includes his correspondence and business papers. Collection also includes legal documents, correspondence, and miscellaneous papers pertaining to the privateers of Salem, MA, that visited or sent prizes to Maine ports during the War of 1812. The Ship America and the Brig Grand Turk are represented in these documents, which include the 1814 Articles of Agreement for the Ship America.
