Theresa El-Amin papers, 1960s-2010.

Collection includes materials from El-Amin's long career as an activist and union organizer with groups such as Black Workers for Justice, the Service Employees International Union, Jobs with Justice, the Green Party of the United States, the Labor Party, the NAACP, the Coalition of Labor Union Women, the Black Radical Congress, Solidarity, and the Southern Anti-Racism Network. Also contains materials from the Black Liberation movement and the Free Mumia Abu-Jamal movement, as well as subject files on a wide range of topics, such as union organizing, apartheid, health care, Durham and North Carolina politics, and racism. The printed materials within the collection include union magazines, socialist and communist newsletters, Labor Notes issues, and miscellaneous fliers, handouts, pamphlets, reports, and other publications. Also includes photographs and videotapes from El-Amin's activism, with snapshots of meetings, protests, rallies, and other events from several groups. The realia portion of the collection includes t-shirts, buttons, and other ephemera gathered by El-Amin throughout her career. Finally, the historical documents within the Black Liberation series include as articles on Black Power, Black Panthers, the condition of African Americans, and the Watts riots.
