Palestine and Lebanon. 1897.

The album contains views of sites in Palestine and Lebanon. Over half of the photographs are signed by or attributed to Bonfils; the album also includes six photochroms by Photo Zürich, one image by Lékégian, and several photographs by unknown photographers. The opening image is of a group of European travelers on horseback (four men and two women) outside the walls of Jerusalem, with a European[?] man in Arab dress in the lead. Members of the group appear in several photographs in the middle of the album, including a studio portrait of the man in Arab dress. The next four photographs are of Conrad Schick's models of the site of the temple of Jerusalem as it appeared during the Solomonic, Herodian, Christian, and Islamic periods. A four-page article entitled "Explanation of Baurath C. Schick's Models" is tipped into the front of the album. A pocket on the front paste down holds George Armstrong's Raised Map of Palestine, published by the Palestine Exploration Fund (PEF). These materials suggest that the album may have been compiled by someone associated with either Conrad Schick or the PEF.
