This three-ring binder contains the field notes on Lepidoptera by Michael G. Pogue, made between 1974 and 1978. Pogue, former volunteer, preparator and Assistant Curator of Zoology at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science, collected and prepared insects for exhibits at DMNS and indexed the Museum's entomological specimens. He journeyed to Papua New Guinea on vacation and collected approximately 200 specimens for the Museum. Pogue went on to work at the Smithsonian Institution and as research entomologist for the USDA in Washington, D.C.

Michael G. Pogue is an entomologist who contributed to studies of Lepidoptera at many museums and other institutions. Pogue began his extensive career in entomology as a volunteer at the Denver Museum in 1974, the same year he graduated from the University of Colorado with a B.A. His education continued with a M.S. from the University of Wyoming and culminated with a Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota. The Denver Museum of Nature & Science has 104 dioramas depicting the context of many of the Museum's collections of specimens and artifacts.
