Michael G. Pogue is an entomologist who contributed to studies of Lepidoptera at many museums and other institutions. Pogue began his extensive career in entomology as a volunteer at the Denver Museum in 1974, the same year he graduated from the University of Colorado with a B.A. His education continued with a M.S. from the University of Wyoming and culminated with a Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota. The Denver Museum of Nature & Science has 104 dioramas depicting the context of many of the Museum's collections of specimens and artifacts. From around 1910, the first diorama-type displays at DMNS consisted of flat oil paintings placed behind specimens.
