Joseph C. Fletcher papers, 1864.

Papers consist of typed transcriptions [photocopies, no originals] of three letters and one account. Joseph C. Fletcher informs his parents of his capture, and gives the names of other prisoners (June 15, 1864). In his prison account, Fletcher tells of the march to Andersonville Prison, the number of captured soldiers; and he gives a detailed description of the prison. He recounts the treatment of prisoners, limited food rations, and illness among the prisoners. He also describes the circumstances of his release (undated). In a letter to Thomas Fletcher, Capt. C. A. Stanton writes of Joseph Fletcher's capture (June 20, 1864). Capt. Stanton reports that Fletcher is well in a letter to Mrs. Fletcher (June 26, 1864).
