The first part of the collection, 46 folders contained in one 5 x 15.5 x 10-inch box and one 2.5 x 15.5 x 10-inch box, holds the papers of Albert C. Rogers, who was a preparator in and later curator of the Colorado Museum of Natural History's Mammals division. (The CMNH is now the Denver Museum of Nature & Science.) The papers date from 1917 to 1958. Among the papers are official "Large Mammal Records" for various species, showing a diagram, measurements, sex and other characteristics for collected specimens. There also are copious amounts of correspondence, typewritten and handwritten, discussing the Mammal Division's field work, including a 1918 letter from Museum director Jesse Figgins designating Rogers the Museum's representative for work in Alaska and the Yukon. A folder from 1949 contains a group of handwritten letters from sixth graders at Denver's Beach Court School, thanking Rogers for a recent tour. The files also contain newspaper clippings, plant and animal lists, equipment lists, exhibit planning notes and procedures files for, among other things, making plaster casts. Rogers also served as building superintendent at the Museum. The files contain letters related to that work (one discusses repairs to the ladies' toilet), along with diagrams (one shows the location of fire extinguishers in the Museum) and floor plans. The second part of the collection, seven folders of Zoology Dept. records dating from 1876 to 1979, contains a mammal accession ledger, historical mammal acquisition records, historical mammal catalog and specimen ledger, documents of historical collections transactions and plans from the 1970s for a butterfly exhibit.
