General John J. Pershing photograph collection [picture]. [1899?-1917]

Collection consists of thirty-three silver gelatin prints of billeting at the United States Army's Camp Vicars on Mindanao, soldiers and officers under the command of General Pershing, Tausug (Moro) leaders (datos), and portraits of General Samuel Sumner with Tausug leaders and with his officers. Written in the lower right-hand corner of many of the photographs is: "Piang" Studio, Zamboanga, P.I. Also included are four black and white illustrations from an unidentified book. Collection consists of 16 albumen prints depicting buildings, bridges, rivers and the port of the city of Manila during the latter part of the nineteenth century. Also included are several pictures of outlying farms, prisoners of the Revolution of 1896, and one of a Chinese street barber and ear cleaner.
