Michael Monahan was a poet and editor. Born in County Cork, Ireland, he moved to the United States and became a reporter and, later, editor. He wrote poetry and non-fiction, including works on Jean d'Arc and Heinrich Heine, and toured extensively as a lecturer. He founded the journals Papyrus and Phoenix.
