This holograph essay, signed by Dumas, was written in support of Archbishop of Warsaw, Monseigneur Feliński's plea to Emperor Alexander II of Russia demanding independence for Poland. The essay is critical of Lord Palmerston, Prime Minister of Britain, who refused to support the idea of an independent Poland.
