Baron George Hoyningen-Huene was born in St. Petersburg, Russia on September 4, 1900. His father was a Russian cavalry officer and his mother was an American Ambassador's daughter. Hoyningen-Huene was brought to England in 1917, and left there for Istanbul in British uniform in 1919 as an interpreter to General Briggs. He returned to joined his family in Biarritz in 1921 and then took an apartment in Paris and took up photography and sketching for his dressmaking sister. He became ...
