[Musical sketch for an unknown song]. [ca. 1903]

Holograph sketch for medium voice (without text) and piano, written in ink on lined music paper. At bottom of leaf is ms. authenticity statement by Joaquín Nin, indicating that the manuscript was given to him by Madame Debussy three years before her death [in 1934]. Accompanied by two printed tickets inviting Nin to attend the unveiling of the Debussy monument in Paris on June 17, 1932.

Claude Debussy (b. 22 August 1862–d. 25 March 1918) was one of the most influential composers of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Born in Saint-Germain-en-Laye, France he attended the Conservatoire de Paris originally to study piano before switing to composition. His orchestral works include Prélude à l'après-midi d'un faune (1894), Nocturnes (1897–1899), Images (1905–1912). In 1904 he rose to international fame for his opera Pelléas et Mélisande.
