Collection includes student papers collected by professor William G. Hartley for the Independent Study writing class, 397R -- Writing Family Histories. This collection also includes papers and ephemera relating to the British Sesquicentennial Family History Writing Contest in 1987 and 1988. Includes some of the 41 entries in the contest. The winning entries by the four winners Winifred McLachlan, Ann W. Engar, Earlene Allred Smart, and Paul T. Smith are not included.
