Mount Holly Monthly Meeting was established in 1776 by Burlington Quarterly Meeting out of Burlington Monthly Meeting. In 1827, after the Hicksite Separation in Philadelphia Yearly Meeting, the Meeting split into Hicksite and Orthodox branches. The Orthodox Meeting was discontinued in 1828 ; its members were transferred to Burlington Monthly Meeting (Orthodox). Philadelphia Quarterly Meeting was established in 11mo 1682/83; its first business sessions were held in 1683. At the time of the Separation in Philadelphia Yearly Meeting in 1827, there were two Philadelphia Quarterly Meetings. The Hicksite and Orthodox meetings were reunited in 1955, and several meetings were transferred to the newly formed Haverford Quarterly Meeting.
