Collection comprises primarily correspondence, but also photographs, religious publications, and sermons, relating to American missionary Monona Cheney and her work in China, mainly in Tientsin (Tianjin) and Peking (Beijing), from 1918-1932. Collection includes 266 letters from Cheney to her family in the United States, 1918-1930, as well as a folder of articles and sermons by Cheney. Collection also includes three containers of photographs, mostly of subjects in Beijing, 1926-1930, as well as several publications on missionary work.

American Monona Cheney (1890-1982) was a Methodist missionary and teacher in China, primarily in Tianjin and Beijing, from 1918 to 1932. She taught history, English, and bilble studies, and engaged in rural evangelical activities in the Beijing area.
