The Clark Art Institute and Getty Research Institute collaborate each year on workshops/symposia that address a current area of interest related to art history. The theme for the 2003 workshop was "Art History and Biography," during which scholars considered the authority of biographies written about artists, challenging traditional methods and assumptions while evaluating various artists' biographies.
