John Stuart Mill letters and carte-de-visite, 1867-1868.

The collection consists of three items: note to an unnamed recipient, in the third person, 29 April 1867, declining an invitation to attend the Anniversary Festival of the Artist's General Benevolent Institution, accompanied by a carte-de-visite portrait photograph of Mill by John Watkins; to Dear sir (Henry Mitchell), 25 Aug. 1868, from Avignon, arranging to help Mitchell with letters of introduction to men of similar interests.
