Gordon N. Ray, a graduate of Indiana University, was closely associated with the life and work of William Makepeace Thackeray. Most of her poems were published in Charles Dicken's magazines, often under a pseudonym. Her life was marked by her conversion to Roman Catholicism, and by her devotion to women's rights.
