Stephan Loewentheil photograph collection, 1822-1899.

Collection of 19th century historical photographs on various subjects demonstrating the technological evolution of photography from 1822 - 1885. The collection contains Daguerreotypes, salted paper photographs, ambrotypes, tintypes, albumen prints, cartes de visite, cabinet cards, and photograph albums. Also included are some lithographic prints (some hand colored), a graphite on paper portrait, wood engraving, medals, and stamp.
