Typescript translation of a portion of volume 2 of the Voyage de l'ambassade de la Compagnie des Indes Orientales hollandaises, vers l'empereur de la Chine, dans les années 1794 & 1795, by Andreas Everard van Braam Houckgeest (A Philadelphie: chez l'editeur, 1797-1798). The section translated covers the period from April 5 to September 1795. The translation was corrected by Marie-Odile Gauny Sweetser, Ph.D., of the University of Illinois. The translation includes copies of illustrations from the original, including maps and portraits, as well as a copy of the title page of the original. It also includes the dedication, editor's note (Advertisement of the Editor), and introduction of the book in an earlier English translation (1798). Following the body of the text are appendices A-I, consisting of translations of letters and other documents relating to the voyage to China in 1794-1795.
