The slugger's wife : script, 1983, November 1 / screenplay by Neil Simon. 1983.

An average baseball player, Dale Palmer, finds love and his career takes off. He believes that Debbie, a singer, is his good luck charm and wants her to put her singing career on hold so she can be at all his games. Debbie tries this for a while, because she truly loves Dale, but eventually she begins to resent feeling like a possession and needs to break out and pursue her own career. This throws Dale's career into a tail spin. It will take more than a "lucky charm" for Dale's manager and teammates to get his head back in the game and a possible league championship for the team.
