Janet Pierce NOW collection, 1931-1981.

The collection contains materials concerning the activities of the Houston chapter of NOW, primarily in the mid-1970s. The majority of the material dates from 1974 and 1975, and includes publications, conference material, financial information, and brochures. When received in the archives, most of the material was sorted into folders labeled by the creator, and this arrangement and the folder titles have been adhered to as closely as possible. The Houston chapter of the National Organization for Women (NOW) was founded in 1970 and quickly increased its membership to over 300 individuals concerned with women's rights and status.
