Journal of Sarah Winslow Deming, written ca. June 1775 as a letter to her niece Sally Coverly, giving a first-hand account of events in and around Boston between 15-26 Apr. 1775. The journal describes the occupation of Boston by British troops; news of the battles at Lexington and Concord; Deming's escape, with others, to Providence, R.I., during the Siege of Boston; the actions of General Thomas Gage; and Deming's fear for the safety of friends and family members. Includes a typed transcription by Cynthia Krusell.
