A real estate developer and urban planner, Harry F. Chaddick (1902-1994) was born on the near West Side of Chicago. He operated a successful trucking business, and built a comprehensive system of trucking terminals on Chicago's West Side. As Chicago's director of zoning, he guided the re-zoning of Chicago in 1957. In the early 1960s, Chaddick purchased an old Ford plant near Midway Airport and converted the manufacturing facility into Chicago's first major shopping mall known as Ford City. In th...
