Letter, 1940 December 26, 597 Fifth Avenue, New York, N.Y. to Zelda [Fitzgerald].

Perkins writes to Zelda shortly after F. Scott Fitzgerald's death. He recounts having had a confident letter from Scott a few days before he died. He mentions that he has heard from Gilbert Seldes, John Bishop, and John Biggs and that "it is too soon to tell exactly what the situation is financially ..." He adds, "I never had a better friend. He did many things for me, and he was always loyal. I shall always miss him."

Zelda Fitzgerald (b. July 24, 1900, Montgomery, AL–d. March 10, 1948, Asheville, NC) was an American socialite, novelist, painter and wife of author F. Scott Fitzgerald. F. Scott Fitzgerald was born Sept. 24, 1896 in St. Paul Minnesota. He began writing while a student at Princeton University. He met his wife, Zelda, while serving in the US Army stationed in Alabama. His novel, This Side of Paradise, was published in 1920 and he became an instant success. He published he Great Gatsby in 1925.
