Tall case brass dial clock, ca. 1750-1770.

Walnut tall-case clock. The hood has a molded broken-scroll pediment terminating in carved roundels, a central ball-and-spire finials on a fluted plinth, free-standing turned columns at the four corners, and a glazed door with a square opening. Waist with ogee molding at the top, turned quarter columns at the front corners and a case door with a molded edge, an astragal top and a reverse-blocked shell at the bottom. Base with cove and ovolo moldings at the top, fielded panel with reverse-blocked rosette at the front, and ogee molding at the bottom. Composite brass dial with applied chapter ring with roman hour numerals and arabic minute numerals and applied cast ornament in the spandrels. Inside the chapter ring there is a calendar aperture, punched decoration, an engraved star motif, and an applied name plaque engraved "Jacob Godshalk Philadelphia." Thirty hour movement.
