Tall case brass dial clock, ca. 1740-1760.

Mahogany tall-case clock. The hood has a molded sarcophagus top with two turned and gilt ball finials on plinths, carved blind fretwork in the tympanum and frieze, a molded arch above the door, free-standing turned columns with gilt capitals and bases, and a glazed door with an astragal top. Waist with cove and ogee molding at the top and a case door with a molded edge and an astragal top. Base with cove and ovolo moldings at the top, and ogee and ovolo moldings at the bottom. Composite brass dial with applied chapter ring with roman hour numerals and arabic minute numerals, applied cast ornament in the spandrels and lunette, and a name boss engraved "Samuel Bagnall Boston" in the lunette. Below the name boss, there is a strike/no strike selector. There is an engraved fleur-de-lis between each hour gradation. Inside the chapter ring there is an applied seconds dial and a calendar aperture. Eight day movement.
