Brass dial shelf clock, 1783.

Mahogany shelf clock. Top section with a molded flat top, a carved and pierced crest, a rectangular door with a glazed opening, and cove, ogee and ovolo moldings at the bottom. Bottom section with a rectangular door, ogee moldings at the bottom and supported on ogee bracket feet. Engraved dial with arabic hour numerals and engraved minute gradations, and the inscription "1783" inside the chapter ring. Small engraved plaque at the bottom of the dial engraved "D Balch Newburyport."
