Tall case brass dial clock, 1768-1780.

Black walnut tall-case clock. The hood has a cove and ogee molded flat pediment with rectangular sidelights, free-standing turned columns at the four corners and a glazed door with a square opening. Waist with cove molding at the top and a rectangular case door inlaid with tulips, ellipses, a fylfot, and several berry clusters. Base with cove molding at the top, string inlaid scrolls and berries, an inlaid border and ogee molding above the baseboard. Composite brass dial with applied chapter ring with roman hour numerals and arabic minute numerals, and applied cast ornament in the spandrels. Inside the chapter ring there is an engraved star motif and a calendar aperture. There is a name plate bearing the inscription "Jacob Godshalk Philadelphia." Eight day movement.
