Tall case brass dial clock, ca. 1770.

Walnut tall-case clock. The hood has a molded broken-arch pediment terminating in carved rosettes with a central carved ball-and-flame finial, a molded arch above the door, sidelights with astragal tops, turned engaged columns at the front corners, turned quarter columns at the back corners and a glazed door with an astragal top. Waist with cove molding at the top and a case door with an astragal top. Base with cove molding at the top. Base section with applied case panel with shaped corners, and supported on ogee bracket feet. Composite brass dial with applied chapter ring with roman hour numerals and arabic minute numerals, applied cast ornament in the spandrels and lunette, and a boss engraved with an image of General James Wolfe. Inside the chapter ring there is engraved imagery of the moon and stars, a rooster, tent encampments, fauna, and c-scrolls. The dial is signed "George Miller." Eight day movement.
