Tall case brass dial clock, ca. 1770.

Mahogany tall-case clock. The hood has a cove molded broken-arch pediment terminating in carved rosettes with a central carved cartouche and two flanking wooden urn-and-flame finials on fluted plinths. The cartouche is supported on a plinth with carved c-scrolls. The tympanum is decorated with carved and applied acanthus leafs centered by a shell. There are free-standing fluted columns at the front corners. The glazed door has an astragal top. Waist with cove molding at the top, fluted quarter-columns at the front corners, and a case door with a shaped top. Base with cove molding at the top. Base section with fluted quarter-columns at the front corners, applied base panel with shaped serpentine sides and supported on ogee bracket feet. Composite brass dial with applied chapter ring with roman hour numerals and arabic minute numerals, applied cast decoration in the spandrels, and an name boss with the inscription "Edwd Duffield Philada." Inside the chapter ring there is an applied seconds dial and a calendar aperture. Eight day movement.
