Lehigh University Mustard & Cheese Drama Society Collection 1946-1972. 1946-1972.

The Lehigh University Mustard & Cheese Collection is a pictorial history of Lehigh University's drama society. This collection consists of 688 photographs and an assortment of playbills, posters, and newspaper clippings originally housed in seven numbered scrapbooks, documenting the organization's history and the work involved in creating various theater productions throughout the years. The stage crew and cast of players included not only students and faculty of Lehigh University but also the participation of other local institutions. The photographs generally highlight scenes of the various plays and production work such as set design and costume manufacturing. The assorted playbills record the people involved in each production and help describe parts of the organization's development. While the scrapbooks contain mostly photographs and playbills, there are also newspaper clippings and other ephemera. The collection was acquired by the Lehigh University Library on September 26, 1973 through the Mustard & Cheese Dramatics Club. H. Barrett Davis had donated the collection to the Club on November 17, 1972 with the intent on having the organization find a permanent home for the scrapbooks. Davis noted that many of the photographs in his collection are not present in these scrapbooks but are available as slides through Mustard & Cheese.
