Francis "Fritz" Jefferson Koons was a long-time Bellingham resident, outdoor enthusiast and founding member of the Komo Kulshan Ski Club. Born in 1902 in Illinois, Koons moved to Bellingham permanently in 1926, where he worked for Puget Sound Power and Light Company. Koons had an avid interest in outdoor recreation, attending his first meeting of the Mt. Baker Club in the 1920s, and remaining an active club member throughout his life.
