Earl L. Cushman family letters, 1896-1914, (bulk 1897-1898).

Letters from Cushman's parents, Oscar H. (1850-1933) and Ella (Haight) Cushman (1852-1932), his grandmother, Susan (Pinney) Cushman (1826-1919), and his sister Alice (b. 1876, later Mrs. Drake), all living in Middlebury, Vt., a few written while he was studying in Germany, but most after his return when he was studying in New York City, regarding news of home, Alice's social life, and pleas from his parents that he spend less money. Also includes letters (1896) from friends in Germany; a photograph of four people with only Gideon D. Miner identified; a pocket diary for 1905; Susan Pinney's family record (1914), written at Earl's request, with annotations by an unknown person; a list, undated, perhaps of wedding gifts, recipient unknown; and a letter, whose relationship to the rest is unclear, from a writer identified only as "H'" to an unidentified young mother whose husband appears to have been a student after World War II.
