Joseph Cruickshank Talbot papers, 1855-1882.

Early letters concern Talbot's rectorship of Christ Church, Indianapolis, and relations with Bishop George Upfold, with one letter of 1860 about his work in Nebraska while Missionary Bishop of the Northwest. A circular appeal by Talbot on behalf of the Reverend Stephen C. Massoch gives his correspondence with Massoch about the need for a church home for superannuated clergy, 1865-1868. Other subjects are Talbot's opposition to drafting clergymen for military service, 1865; his disapproval of the Young Men's Christian Association, 1870; his high opinion of Bishop William Rollinson Whittingham; and various clergy matters, including references to Harvey O. Judd and Thomas S. Bacon. A letter of 1882 from Bishop George F. Seymour concerns Talbot's ill health.
