This collection contains an original manuscript, with the date June 10, 1837 written on the title page. which lists land sale transfers from the town's founding in 1763 through 1837. Pasted into the front cover is a lotting map for the town of Mansfield with proprietor's names written in. The collection also includes a transcription of a land deed dated March 3, 1841 conveying land from John Spaulding to John T. Miller, and W. H. H. Brigham's tax account from 1872-1882. There is also a preservation photocopy of the collection. Mansfield, Vermont was chartered on June 8, 1763 as a New Hampshire grant of 23,040 acres and was located in the southern part of Lamoille County. It was first settled in 1799 and was organized in 1815. On November 11, 1839 the western portion of the town was annexed to Underhill, Vermont and on November 15, 1848 the remainder was annexed to Stowe, Vermont.
