Records relating to land held by Christopher Leffingwell, one of the original proprietors of Hyde Park, Vermont. The records include two deeds for land purchased by Leffingwell in 1788, minutes of a meeting of Hyde Park proprietors in 1788, and two letters written to William Leffingwell, son of Christopher, regarding land in Hyde Park. Also included are two lotting maps of Hyde Park, the first showing the 1st and 2nd divisions of land, and the second showing three divisions of land dated 1773. There is also a map showing 1,148 acres of land owned by Leffingwell in Partridgefield (now Peru), Massachusetts. Pasted in the front of the volume is a letter dated August 12, 1927 from Charles E. Tuttle, describing the purchase of the volume to Dorman B. E. Kent. Tuttle says that he procured these documets from a descendent of Captain Hyde of Connecticut.
