Historical sketch of Caroline D. Noyes, C.S.D, 1936.

Caroline D. Noyes was born in Chelsea, Maine, the daughter of Daniel and Eliza (Lunt) Dorr. She spent her childhood in Chelsea and Gardiner, Maine, and in 1864 married Gideon Palmer Noyes of Gardiner. While living in Massachusetts, she became a Christian Scientist, studying with Mary Baker Eddy. She later started a Christian Scientist church in Chicago: First Church of Christ, Scientist, Chicago. In 1911 she moved back to Gardiner, Maine.
