Photograph collection, circa 1912-circa 1974, of unidentified family's snapshots in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Includes family, recreational and scenic snapshots in Houghton, Calumet, Ontonagon County, Freda, Eagle Harbor and Hurontown. Also includes company housing shots in Hurontown, scenes from the CITY OF BANGOR (built 1896) shipwreck of 1926, Winter Carnival at Michigan Technological University and the Michigan State Militia encampment in Calumet, during the 1913 copper miners strike.

A native of Bessemer, Michigan, Margaret Holley Chapman grew up in Lake Linden and graduated from Calumet High School. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Lawrence College in 1932 and went on to attend Michigan College of Mining and Technology, becoming the first female to receive a degree from the college.
