Raleigh Hotel documents, 1905.

Raleigh Hotel bill for a U.S. Naval Academy banquet, Oct. 13, 1905, organized by Robert Frank Gross. Bill includes 158 covers and beverages for the banquet as well as a keg of beer and 100 sandwiches for the musicians. There was extensive breakage of glassware and plates, for which the manager of the Raleigh, T.J. Talty, presented an itemized accounting in a separate letter. A ring was lost at the event, and the hotel placed an advertisement in the Evening Star offering a $5 reward for its return, as requested by Mr. Gross.
