Student Media records, 1945-2002 (bulk 1968-1990).

The Student Media Records document the oversight, advising, and management provided for student publications and broadcast media at Oregon State University. The records include budgets and financial information, contracts correspondence, handbooks, meeting minutes, newspaper clippings, photographs, printing blocks, reports, and student papers. About a third of the collection consists of records of the Broadcast Media Committee, the Student Publications Committee, and the University Student Media Committee. Materials pertaining to production (typesetting, advertising, and newswire services) for the campus newspaper and yearbook are included in the collection. The participation of Student Media directors, Irwin Harris and Frank Ragulsky, in the Pacific Coast Publication Managers and the Western Association of University Publication Managers professional organizations are reflected in the records. The photographs consist primarily of 35 mm b/w negatives as well as several b/w prints. They depict Oregon State University President A.L. Strand at various functions, Richard Mengler, old farm structures, and a birthday party for an unidentified child. Six printing blocks are part of the collection; these include the cover image of the 1949/1950 student handbook.
