Summaries of Whaling Logbooks, 1778-1867.

Collection contains typed summaries of whaling logbooks transcribed by Morton R. Lovett. Transcripts provide name of ship; rigging; tonnage; port of origin; name of master and logkeeper, if known; owner(s) of ship; and summary of the journal kept for the whaling voyage. Location of original log is also provided; most of the originals are located in the Phillips Library - a few may be found in the Beverly Historical Society, Beverly, Massachusetts.
