Whaling Documents, 1786-1863.

Whaling Documents include: accounts of whale oil sales; correspondence and typescripts related to whaling voyages; copy of "Articles of Agreement relative to Whale Fishery;" copy of marriage certificate containing names of New Bedford whaling families; bills of sale for whale oil and whale bone; subscriptioins to Salem whaling ventures; crew lists; whale oil prices in Amsterdam; and an insurance policy. Volume contains 1098 entries of whaling vessels of New Bedford, Massachusetts, 1839 through 1841; entries include vessel name, tonnage, maker of ship, destination, reports of voyage; months at sea; and amount of sperm oil, whale oil and whale bone obtained during voyage.
