Capitol Restoration Records, 1844-1990 1984-1990.

Consists of records pertaining to the restoration of certain interior spaces of the Tennessee State Capitol building, including the old state library, the old supreme court chamber, and the first and second floor corridors. Contains documents, photographs, and research materials. The Commission fell under the Department of General Services. During the time span that the records cover the department had two commissioners, Susan Simons and William B. Whitson. The charge of the Commission was to develop a plan and establish policies to restore, preserve, maintain, and control the non-governmental use of the Tennessee State Capitol and grounds.
