The collection consists of a handwritten letter by Jefferson Davis dated June 8, 1889 to A.J. Halbert regarding his receipt of an article printed in the Columbia Dispatch about the history of the Prairie Guards Company "E," 11th Mississippi Regiment, C.S.A. Davis addresses the importance of preserving survivors' accounts of "every company" for future historians. This collection also includes an unidentified, handwritten sketch about Davis.
