Put Up the Gates Campaign scrapbook, 1940.

The Put Up the Gates Scrapbook documents activities to raise funds for installing gates at the entrance to the Oregon State College campus in 1940. The scrapbook includes clippings, brochures, and campaign announcements. Information about the Corvallis Garden Pilgrimage in May 1940 is provided in a brochure for the event and newspaper clippings. Several of the newspaper clippings describe the development of campus planning at Oregon State.

Wrought iron gates for the entrance to Oregon State College were constructed in Portland under the supervision of O.B. Dawson as a federal Works Progress Administration (WPA) project and completed in the late 1930s. A campaign was conducted in the spring of 1940 to raise $1500 for installation of the gates.
