Blank Certificate of Distinction, [manuscript], 185[?].

Certificate (unfolded from the shape of an envelope) reads "University of Virginia. Mr.____, having been distinguished by attaining to the First Division, in the SCHOOL of ______, at the _____, Examination for the session of 18__; the faculty in testimony thereof, have conferred on him this CERTIFICATE this ____ dayof June, 185_." It was presumably folded and glued for use as an envelope during the paper shortage in the South during the Civil War.
