R. G. Adams of the Wiilliam L. Clements Library, writing as "B. Franklin," sends a note to Roy Land of the University of Virginia Library enclosing a photostat of a "rare, priceless, unique and absolutely authentic item of Thomas Jeffersoniana, just found among the papers of the great American book collector, George Brinley." The enclosed photostat is a receipt by Brinley to a Mr. B. Smith, 1848 August 12, for Brinley's payment "to advance service of Tho. Jefferson for the Cleveland mare."
