Recollections noted for the amusement of my children [manuscript]/ by John R. Wingfield, undated.

Wingfield briefly records his life before entering the Confederate Army, joining the Amherst Light Horse (Co. E, 2nd Virginia Cavalry) in April 1864, Battle of the Wilderness in which he was wounded, captured, and left to die in care of a civilian "Mrs. Jones," hospitalization in Gordonsville, brief meeting with University of Virginia professors Francis H. Smith and John B. Minor, and recuperation in Charlottesville under care of Dr. John Staige Davis.
