The collection contains miscellaneous items reflecting war time life in Charlottesville, Va., and includes a wartime produce canning notice; a manual for civilian defense; a notice to servicemen regarding free bowling, meal and shower passes; a brochure describing the Charlottesville Recreation Department program; an invitation and an order of exercises for a Charlottesville and Albemarle Civilian Ground Observer Corps awards program; a notice concerning the dedication of a Roll of Honor at First Methodist Church; a clipping concerning a scrapbook of local heroes; a roll of honor for Immanuel Lutheran Church; an Order of Service for the dedication of the national flag, the church flag and a service flag at Christ Episcopal Church which also contains a roll of honor; a University of Virginia Navy v-12 Unit order concerning fire drills; a monthly report from the Dept. of Recreation that includes U.S.O. and S.O.M.G. activities and numbers of transient service men and wives receiving services; and a notice for a Civilian Defense Victory Garden fair.
